Haemorrhagic strokes are less common but more deadly than ischemic strokes. A haemorrhagic stroke develops when an artery in the brain leaks or bursts. This can occur from a weak or thinned out area on the artery wall that balloons out over time and then bursts. This causes bleeding inside the brain or near the surface of the brain.
