There are 2 main types of diabetes: type 1 where the body does not make insulin and type 2 where the body does not make or use insulin well. Type 2 is more common. Without enough insulin, glucose stays in your blood and can lead to damage to your eyes, kidneys and nerves. Diabetes can also cause heart disease, stroke and even tissue damage that can lead to amputation of extremities like feet and toes. A diabetic needs to seek regular attention from a medical doctor care for the condition and take special care of their feet.
