Epilepsy is usually diagnosed after a person has had at least 2 seizures that were not caused by a known medical condition, like extreme low blood sugar. Seek medical advice because epilepsy is usually controlled, but cannot be cured with medication. Treatment is aimed at preventing seizures. If medications fail to control the seizures, sometimes surgery can help. Changes in diet are also recommended. Known triggers of epileptic fits should be avoided by people with epilepsy.
