Epilepsy is a brain disorder that causes one to have recurring seizures. Brain cells communicate by sending electrical signals along the nerves in an organized way. In epilepsy, these electrical signals become abnormal, giving rise to electrical 'storms' in the brain that cause seizures. These storms may be within a specific part of the brain or be generalised, depending on the type of epilepsy.
