Dogs, cats, livestock and wild animals can develop rabies. Rabid animals often behave strangely, are restless, move strangely, have saliva running down their mouth and will attack or bite for no reason. Wild animals lose fear of people and will come close to settlements. Domestic animals can be immunised against rabies. Animals infected with rabies must be put down quickly to avoid further spread to other animals or humans.
