If you are infected with onchocerciasis, it may be without symptoms. Those with symptoms will usually begin to show 1-3 years after infection and have one or more of the 3 manifestations:skin rash (usually itchy), eye disease, and nodules under the skin. The effect on the lymph nodes causes hanging groins and elephant skin features (elephantiasis). The most serious manifestation you may encounter consists of lesions in the eye that can lead to poor vision and blindness.
