The main symptom of myopia is distant objects appearing blurred, leading to squinting so as to see clearly, causing headache due to excessive eyestrain, while near objects are seen clearly. A child with nearsightedness may often squint, sit very close to the television or blackboard, hold books very close while reading, seem to be unaware of distant objects, blink excessively, rub eyes often and may not be interested in sports or activities that require good distance vision.
