The causes of Hyperthyroidism include:Grave's disease(autoimmune disease), thyroid nodules(noncancerous lumps in the thyroid), thyroiditis or inflammation of the thyroid gland, swallowing too much iodine which influences the amount of thyroid hormone the thyroid makes, over-medicating with thyroid hormone used to treat underactive thyroid. Rarely, hyperthyroidism is caused by a pituitary adenoma, which is a noncancerous tumor of the pituitary gland.
