Hyperthyroidism may lead to complications:heart problems including rapid heart rate and heart failure, eye problems including red or swollen eyes, sensitivity to light and blurring or double vision and swollen skin. Untreated or poorly controlled hyperthyroidism may lead to a rare but serious reaction called a thyroid storm and people with hyperthyroidism may experience problems like infertility and miscarriage.
