Hospitalisation may be required if the corneal ulcer is severe or if your doctor diagnoses a condition e. g. diabetes or HIV that could worsen the condition. Your doctor may prescribe antibiotic eye drops which you should apply as directed. This may be as often as every hour. You may also get oral pain medication or local pain medication that dilates the pupil.
