Dupuytren's contracture, also called Dupuytren's disease, is a thickening(lumps or nodules) or tightening (contracture) of the layer of tissue that is just under your skin in your palm and fingers. The tendons that run through your hand are not the cause. It makes one or more of your fingers curl inwards (contract). It tends to affect your 4th or 5th finger, but it can affect any finger. It often affects both hands.
