Symptoms of gum disease depend on the stage of the disease. Mild cases of gum disease(gingivitis) cause gums that are red, swollen, tender and bleed easily during brushing. As gum disease gets worse(periodontitis) symptoms include bad breath, pus from the gums, loose teeth and change in how the teeth fit together when you bite. The gums also begin to pull away from the teeth. Seek advice from a trained dental health worker if you see any of these symptoms.
