Abortion is when a pregnancy ends early. Unplanned abortion is also called miscarriage. It can happen as a result of malaria, if the womb is weak or if the fetus (unborn baby) is not normal. Signs of miscarriage include abdominal pain, bleeding and cramps. In later pregnancy signs can be blood clots and bad smell from the vagina and the fetus might also come out of the body. If you get these signs you must seek medical help IMMEDIATELY as you can die from too much bleeding or infection. Health workers are trained to provide care to women and girls who experience miscarriage complications.
