Heart disease can damage the heart, brain and kidney. You can reduce your risk of getting heart disease by: being physically active, exercising (30minutes a day 3-5times a week), eating a balanced diet, maintaining healthy body weight, and finding healthy ways to cope with stress. Get tested for diabetes and know your blood pressure, avoid alcohol and stop smoking. Lose weight if overweight because excess weight adds strain on the heart.
