Cellulitis is a bacterial infection of the deepest layer of the skin. If you have a cut, sore or bite, bacteria can get into the skin and spread to deeper tissues. If not treated, the infection can spread to the blood or lymph nodes, which is dangerous. Some people can get cellulitis without having a break in the skin, such as older adults and people who have diabetes or a weak immune system. Seek diagnosis and treatment from the nearest health unit if you think you have cellulitis.
