Cellulitis is caused by bacteria that enters the skin through cuts or wounds. People at increased risk for cellulitis, include those with weak immune systems, diabetes, those who handle fish, meat, poultry or soil without using gloves, and anyone who injects drugs without proper sterilised needles. Skin problems, such as ulcers, eczema, or a fungal infection can allow bacteria to get into the skin. Seek diagnosis and treatment from the nearest health unit if you think you have cellulitis.
