Spinal tuberculosis develops when the bacteria that causes TB spreads through blood and settles in the bones of the spine. Here they grow, multiply and eat away the bones causing them to be weak which, when compelled to bear weight, give in. The material may bulge from the back forming a gibbus or form pus under the skin, which may sometimes drain out through the skin.
