Tuberculosis is contagious and spreads to others when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Coughing/sneezing spreads droplets contaminated with the bacteria into the surrounding air where other people can breathe them in. Always cover your mouth while coughing and open windows to allow fresh air to circulate when in a crowded place.
