In developing countries, you can get Vitamin E deficiency due to inadequate intake of vitamin E(tocopherol), but in developed countries, the most common causes are problems associated with poor absortion of fat, long-standing liver and gall bladder disease, pancreatic disease, short bowel syndrome. It can also occur as an uncommon inherited form of vitamin E deficiency resulting from problems of liver function, not from poor absorption.
