Abetalipoproteinemia is a rare problem with fat metabolism causing poor absorption of dietary fat and vitamin E. It is inherited. Symptoms:the body can't digest fats which causes stomach problems; difficulty with touch, eg sensing temperature; muscle weakness; poor transmission of nerve impulses; eye problems. Vitamin E supplements are usually part of the treatment.
