Good hygiene prevents some types of vaginitis from recurring and relieves some symptoms. Basic prevention includes:use of condoms during sexual intercourse to prevent sexually transmitted vaginal infections, limiting the number of sex partners, proper fitting clothes , proper wiping after using the toilet(girls should always wipe from the front to the back to avoid introducing bacteria from the rectum to the vaginal area) and avoid irritants and vaginal douches with detergent products.
