Leprosy is treated with antibiotics that kill all the bacteria in the body. It is very important to seek early diagnosis and treatment because it is not possible to reverse nerve damage or deformities caused by leprosy. Treatment may take 6 months or longer, depending on how severe the infection is. The best way to prevent leprosy is to avoid contact with body fluids and rashes of people who are infected.
