Leprosy develops very slowly. One may not get symptoms for at least a year after infection, or even as long as 5-7yrs. Depending on the type of leprosy, symptoms may include skin sores that don't heal even after months, skin lumps and bumps, numbness due to damage to the nerves under the skin and muscle weakness. Go to the nearest health unit for diagnosis and treatment IMMEDIATELY if you have any of these symptoms.
