If brucellosis is not treated, it can have serious complications that affect the organ systems of the body, including the central nervous system. Complications of brucellosis include: arthritis, anemia, meningitis, granulomatous hepatitis, inflammation of the eye, inflammation of the nerve to the retina of the eye and inflammation of the lining of the heart, heart valves and great blood vessels.
