A person with severe malaria has a positive blood slide or a positive RDT result and any of the following:extreme body weakness/prostration, impaired level of consciousness or coma, severe difficulty in breathing/respiratory distress, multiple convulsions, abnormal bleeding, jaundice or yellowing of the eyes and haemoglobinuria or passing tea coloured urine. If you have malaria and any of the signs above, visit your nearest health service provider for immediate assessment and treatment since severe malaria is an emergency.
