Symptoms of sepsis usually develop quickly and include; a fever, chills, a fast heartbeat and fast breathing. Symptoms of severe sepsis or septic shock include; low blood pressure, a change in the mental state, such as confusion, diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting. The most common sites of infection leading to sepsis are the lungs, urinary tract, abdomen and pelvis. Seek immediate diagnosis and treatment from the nearest health unit because severe sepsis and septic shock are medical emergencies.
