Tricuspid stenosis refers to the narrowing of the tricuspid heart valve. This is the valve that regulates the passage of blood from the right atrium to the right ventricle. The narrowing limits this flow of blood from the right atrium and so blood pools backwards since greater pressure would be required to make it flow.
