Vitiligo has both physical and psychological complications. The physical complications include uveitis, photosensitivity and rashes You may notice you are more sensitive to sunburn in the affected areas. Vitiligo may also be a sign of an underlying, more serious autoimmune condition, eg a thyroid disorder. The psychological complications include depression and anxiety. The disfiguring patches may be embarrassing and negatively affect your self-esteem.
