Corticosteroids taken as a tablet are the main treatment for bullous pemphigoid. Your doctor may also give you a corticosteroid cream to apply over the affected skin. Your doctor may give you immune-suppression drugs or anti-inflammatory drugs, e. g azothioprine and methotrexate. These help control the immune attack your body has launched against your skin. Treatment can be stopped after 2-3 years.
