Your doctor may prescribe topical medication(used on the problem area) for flare-ups of the condition. It usually consists of steroids to control the immune reaction. A topical immunomodutalor called tacrolimus is used in severe cases. You may also get a sedative antihistamine to reduce the symptoms and control the immune reaction. Phototherapy and tar treatments have been found to be useful.
