Mild croup generally settles within 2 hours. If it does not, go to your doctor or hospital at once. Medical treatment for croup includes: oral or inhaled steroids- they decrease the length of the croup episodes, nebulised adrenalin- for severe symptoms, adrenalin may be given in hospital to bring down the swelling in the windpipe until the steroids work.
