There is no medical treatment of diabetic retinopathy. Once the condition has occurred, there is no reversal and most treatments are aimed at slowing down progression of the condition. The medication you may get will be to control the high blood sugar, hypertension and high cholesterol. Drugs that prevent abnormal blood vessels forming and corticosteroids are being considered for research.
