Ulcerative colitis(UC) is a disease of large bowel lining and back passage. They get inflamed and ulcers develop. Your large bowel can't absorb as much water as usual, which causes diarrhoea. UC sometimes affects just the rectum-(proctitis).Proctitis is less severe than ulcerative colitis.
