Main symptoms of ulcerative colitis are; frequent diarrhoea sometimes with blood and/or mucus and also stomach pain when on the toilet. Other symptoms include; urgent need to go to the toilet, feeling sick, fever and night sweats, loss of appetite, loss of weight, tiredness, even incontinence. With proctitis, you may not have diarrhea but still often have an urgent need of the toilet and bleeding from your back passage. There may be associated problems in other parts of your body, including mouth ulcers, skin rashes and lesions and inflammation (redness or pain) in the eyes, skin or joints. These symptoms are not always due to UC-if you have them visit your doctor.
