To diagnose a miscarriage, your doctor will ask you about your symptoms, examine you and may also ask about your medical history and give you an internal examination. She/he may refer you to a gynaecologist (who specializes in women's reproductive health) or to an early pregnancy assessment unit at a hospital to have further tests, e. g an ultrasound scan, blood tests and a repeat pregnancy test.
