General symptoms of gastritis:burning in your upper abdomen, nausea, vomiting, belching, loss of appetite, sensation of fullness in your upper abdomen after eating, weight loss. Acute gastritis comes on quickly and is more likely to cause nausea and burning or discomfort in the upper abdomen. Chronic gastritis comes on slowly and tends to cause a dull pain and a feeling of fullness or loss of appetite after just a little food. Often, though, chronic gastritis causes no symptoms. Occasionally, it causes stomach bleeding, though rarely severe. But bleeding that causes you to vomit blood or pass black, tarry stools needs immediate attention.
