The hair shaft in your child's Tinea capitis(ringworm) or dermatophytosis may be invaded and filled with fungal elements(hyphae and conidia) and little or no growth on the exterior which is a condition called endothrix. Alternatively, the interior and exterior of the hair shaft may be infected along with the follicle as well as the surrounding epidermis and this type is called ectothrix. This may worsen the hair loss(alopecia).
