If you experienced an abortion and you are still bleeding or feel pale, cold or weak, or passing blood clots you need to see a trained health worker IMMEDIATELY. You need medical treatment to reduce the risk of serious illness or death. These complications can be caused by infection or if part of the fetus (baby) is left inside the womb. A trained health worker can stop the bleeding and treat the infection. If a friend has had an abortion and is weak, take her straight away to a good health centre for further care. Health workers are trained to provide care to women and girls who experience abortion complications-this is called post abortion care.
