High blood sugar or hyperglycemia is a serious problem for people with diabetes. It is caused when a person with diabetes skips or forgets taking insulin, eats too much food, gets an infection, illness or stress or exercises less than usual. Warning signs include: thirst, headaches, blurred vision, frequent urination, fatigue, vomiting and loss of appetite. Hyperglycemia may later result in vaginal and skin infections, slow-healing sores, decreased vision, constipation and diarrhoea. If you think you have it seek care and treatment at a health centre IMMEDIATELY.
