There are two forms of amnesia. Anterograde amnesia is where the ability to memorize new things is impaired or lost. The person constantly forgets information people or events after a few seconds or minutes. Retrograde amnesia is where the person may be able to memorize new things that occur after they get retrograde amnesia but is unable to recall some or all of their life.
