Identical twins are twins who develop from the same fertilised egg. For reasons not known the egg divides into two separate groups of cells that then develop into separate embryos. Identical twins usually are of the same sex, have the same blood type and the same colour of skin, hair and eyes. However, identical twins do not ALWAYS look exactly the same. They also do NOT have the same fingerprints.
