People with anorexia fear becoming fat so they limit the amount of food they eat, and or make themselves vomit. They also think of themselves as fat even when they are thin or underweight. Most anorexics do not recognize that they have an eating disorder. Signs of anorexia include body weight that is inconsistent with age, build and height, loss of at least 3 consecutive menstrual periods, refusing to eat in public, anxiety, weakness and shortness of breath.
