When the body doesn't get the fuel from food for it to function normally, it begins to consume itself leading to effects like loss of menstrual periods, body weakness, dry skin, constipation, abdominal pain, insomnia, dizziness, fainting and headaches. Over time anorexia causes hair loss, infertility, stunted growth, heart problems, kidney failure, and death. Anorexia can also lead to depression, severe mood swings and thoughts of suicide.
