Many things can cause pain/swelling in the breasts/nipples, like when a woman is about to have or is having her period (menstruation) and while breastfeeding. Nipple/breast pain can also be a sign of pregnancy but the only way to know if you are pregnant is to take a test. If the pain in the breast/nipples continues or there is fluid which is not milk coming from them go to a health centre immediately.
