Causes of infertility in women include infection due to STIs like gonorrhea and chlamydia, infection of the reproductive organs after a miscarriage or unsafe induced abortion and hormonal imbalances, particularly as women approach menopause. Tubal blockages may also prevent the sperm from reaching the womb. Signs of female infertility include failure to ovulate, also known as anovulation, or irregular or infrequent menstruation. See a health worker if you are worried about infertility.
