Immunisation of infants with BCG vaccine at birth or soon after offers the best protection against tuberculosis (TB). Immunisation gives very good protection against TB but even those vaccinated can get the disease. TB may be prevented by avoiding overcrowding, having good nutrition, early detection and treatment of cases, good general hygiene.
