Dysentery causes severe diarrhea containing blood. It results in irritation of the stomach especially the large intestine, which can cause pain and vomiting of blood or fever. The bacteria enters the body through contaminated food or water or contact with an infected person. Diarrhea causes a rapid loss of fluid that can lead to severe dehydration which may be fatal. Treat diarrhea with oral rehydration solution (ORS) and visit the nearest health unit for care and treatment IMMEDIATELY.
