Anal itching is a burning sensation in and around the anus, soreness or pain that usually comes after defecating, especially at night. There may be a rash in the anal area that causes the itching. Persistent anal itching may be related to other medical conditions. Seek medical diagnosis and treatment from the nearest health unit if anal itching is severe or lasts more than a few hours, or if there is bleeding from the rectum.
