Stillbirth is when the foetus has died before being born. This can result from complications during labour or delivery, malaria, STIs such as syphilis, accidents, alcohol and drug abuse, smoking, or umbilical cord problems. Many stillbirths can be prevented. Talk to your health worker if you have any concerns, seek regular antenatal care and ALWAYS strive to deliver at a health unit.
