Different cultures do different types of female circumcision. Some cut the clitoris, some cut the labia (vagina lips), others stitch labia together. Female circumcision does not protect against HIV. It increases the risk of getting HIV/AIDS and other infections if knives used to do it are not clean. Infections and HIV can also pass easily through circumcision wounds if not healed when they have sex. Circumcision puts women's lives in danger because the procedure can cause over bleeding. Female circumcision is commonly called Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). It does NOT prevent adultery nor check female libido. It is harmful and considered to violate the human rights of girls and women.
